We love helping families coordinate a perfect wardrobe for their photoshoot. Planning what you and your family will wear can be stressful, and we are happy to help you figure out what to wear in our planning session prior to the photoshoot. What you and your family will wear depends on many different things, like the location of the shoot, the season the shoot is taking place in, and your overall vision for the shoot. Above all, we want to help you capture your family’s unique personality!

A family portrait isn’t complete without your furry family members! If you are worried about how your pet will behave in the studio, try taking them out somewhere in public like a park or outdoor café. If they do well there, they should be fine and are welcome here in the studio! Pro tip: bring their favorite treats or toy to get their attention and ensure their happiness throughout the photoshoot. Bonus pro tip: if they are small enough, bring a carrier to put them in so that you don’t worry about their whereabouts while human only family portraits are being taken or while you are reviewing and choosing your images.

Because we schedule consultations in person or via Zoom with families for planning purposes, we recommend booking your session about four to six weeks in advance. For family portraits during the holiday season, we recommend scheduling a few months in advance, especially if you would like a session during the weekend. We want to make sure we have enough time to plan your perfect photoshoot, which includes planning the concept of your photoshoot and scouting locations, and for you to prepare for your photoshoot, which could include shopping for the perfect outfit and making appointments for hair, nails, or makeup. We always offer an immediate image review after each session. If reviewing your family portraits on the same day doesn’t work with your schedule or your kids and/or fur babies are ready to go home, we can always reschedule the image selection process when it’s more convenient.
